Schools Environmental Achievement Award

TRCS was presented with the "Schools Environmental Achievement" award for the "Little Steps - Reducing Our Community's Carbon Footprint" program. The Hopkins family received the award on behalf of the school on Saturday, 10th November at the Keep Australia Beautiful Awards in Orange. The award is a tribute to the hard work of students, staff and the wider community. Our aim was to: educate students from kindergarten to year 10 on the benefits of recycling organic waste and converting it into nutrient rich soils to grow fresh vegetables. We are reducing our community footprint by recycling grass clippings and other organic waste including food scraps from the local Council, mowing businesses, the local Foodworks store and our own classrooms. This program is proudly funded by: the NSW Government through its Environmental Trust, Bendigo Bank - Lockhart Branch and FRRR - the John Wallis Foundation.

Equestrian Interschools Challenge

Blake Durnan represented The Rock Central School at the Equestrian Interschools Challenge in Albury, on Saturday. There were over 140 competitors representing 44 schools from all over the region.

Blake rode his new pony Langtree Wild Honey (Molly) and competed against a strong field of approximately 30 riders in the primary section. Blake won his AM7 Show Jumping competition, he came 6th in the Show Jumping Equitation comp, 7th in the preliminary Dressage test and many other placings in novelty events and The Stockman's Challenge, a horse and rider competition. Blake has been working very hard in preparation for this Challenge, he had a fabulous day representing TRCS. Congratulations

PSSA Swimming Star

On Monday, Callum Gardiner travelled to Albury to represent our school and the Wagga PSSA in the Riverina PSSA in the Riverina Swimming Carnival.

Callum was entered in six races for the day. Callum was very successful as he won hall of his races. These events included 50m Butterfly, 50m Backstroke, 50m Breaststroke, 50m Freestyle, 100m Freestyle and 200m Individual Medley. Callum was also selected to participate in the Riverina All Age Relay.

Callum has been asked to carry the Riverina flag at the opening ceremony for the NSW PSSA Carnival. This is a great achievement that Callum has earnt through his dedication to swimming over many years.

Congratulations Callum and we wish you all the best!

Applying for a Bus Pass

As of Thursday 12th May, all new applications for bus travel with Millers and Busabout must be completed online at: https://ssts-apply.transport.nsw.gov.au/ApplySSTS/ApplySSTS.html Once completed, please print the form and bring it to the school front office where we will verify your details before we send it off to Transport for NSW. If you do not have access to the internet at home, you can use the Wagga Wagga Library free internet service or a school computer. For further enquiries, please contact the school front office. BLUE FORMS WILL NO LONGER BE USED.....

Canteen Volunteers wanted...

We are in desperate need of more volunteers to help in the school Canteen. This is a great service we offer our students and staff, however, we may have to cut back to two days a week if we cannot get more helpers. There is no need to give up a whole day. An hour or two works in very well, either in the morning or at lunchtime. You'll make friends in a busy and happy environment and be welcomed with opened arms. Road Safety

REMINDER - SLOW DOWN IN SCHOOL ZONES. We have noticed cars travelling around the school exceeding the speed limits. The safety of our children, staff, parents and community members is everyone's business and we all must make sure we are keeping people safe around and inside the school. This also goes for dropping and picking up your children each day. The school crossing is the safest place to do this, so can you please use the crossing both before and after school. Thank you.

PERMISSION NOTES

We are concerned about the number of students who are not returning permission notes for excursions and then asking the office staff to call home to get verbal permisson. Please assist us by returning permission notes on time and if the note has been misplaced, you can print one off from our School News App or call into the office to collect and sign another one. NO HAT PLAY IN THE SHADE

Sending notes and money to school

When you send a permission note and money into the front office, can you please put them in an envelop and write your child's name, class and what the money is for on the front. Lately we have been receiving notes and loose money and it is sometimes difficult to work out who belongs to what. Thank you for your assistance.

Attendance information

Regular attendance is vital to your child's education. Our school endeavours to work with all famililes to ensure regular attendance for all students. Please contact the school if you have any concerns about your child's attendance or if your child is not wanting to come to school.

Using mobile phones at school

Mobile phones should not be used during school hours, unless instructed by a teacher, for educational purposes. Mobile phones should also not be used for 'ringing home' when a student is sick. If your child becomes sick at school, they should see their classroom teacher, or playground teacher. They will then be sent to the office, where the office staff will, in most cases, call a parent/carer to collect their child from school. Thank you for your co-operation and support.

Paying by Direct Deposit

If you would like to pay for fees, excursions, etc. with BPay, we are more than happy to accept payment this way. Our Bank details are: Westpac Bank, BSB: 032 001, Acc. No. 146622. Please remember to put your child's name in the appropriate area so we know who the payment belongs to. You will still have to send in all permission notes, etc. into the front office.

Unfortunately, at this stage, you cannot pay anything to do with P & C, eg. uniforms, etc. as they have a separate bank account to the school.
