LANGUAGES OTHER THAN ENGLISH
LOTE is taught to Years 7 and 8 as a composite class to satisfy the 100 hours of compulsory study required by the NSW Department of Education. The major language taught is Japanese. The course is constructed to enable students to communicate effectively, i.e. to understand and to be understood, in a variety of everyday situations. Priority is given to listening and speaking skills before reading and writing. Students also study Japanese culture through research, artwork, calligraphy and cooking tasks.
The LOTE classroom has an Interactive Whiteboard which is used to enrich teaching and learning. Students can access online learning using laptops via our wireless network or by using the Computer Room. A variety of 'traditional' and technological sources are used to cover the course requirements.
